Hello to all! My name is Samantha Lou Owens and I am a 21 year old woman (apparently I graduated from being a little girl awhile ago..WHO KNEW?!). My hometown is St. Louis and I have lived there my whole life. I have 2 WONDERFUL parents and a AWESOME sister (age 18). I would like to say that I have my dad's quirkiness, my mom's love of books, and my sister Jess's wrists (we both don't have the bone that sticks out on the side). I am very close with my family and have been blessed with the support that they have always given me. I praise the Lord for giving me a family that believes in the same God that I do! For almost my whole existence, I have gone to Greentree Community Church. The community there has also helped form me to be the woman that I am today. Most of the members (friends of my parents) have seen me grow up so it is like one gigantic family! I go to the University of Missouri (Mizzou) and am a Junior majoring in International Studies with a focus on Latin America. I am involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and also K-life. In K-life, I lead two 7th grade girl bible studies. These girls mean so much to me! I have a real heart for middle school girls. I love answering their questions, laughing with them, singing Selena Gomez with them, opening their eyes to how AWESOME the Lord is, to how crazy cool Jesus is. :) They are the joys in my life. The summer of my sophomore year of highschool I journeyed to Tegucigalpa, Honduras and was there for about 2 weeks. The Lord completely broke me. I saw injustice, I saw sadness, I saw a different way of life then my own. It was there that I fell in love. God gave me my passion for missions. I went to Teguz 2 times after that. The last trip, I felt called to the mission field as a career. I hope to work with women and children who are oppressed. I have always thought that I would work in Latin America, but there is such need everywhere so I have no clue. I am kind of hoping that God will provide me with a organization that deals with injustices everywhere and I would be the person that they send to do who knows what. haha that area is still under construction. I am super excited about this summer because of how unexpected it is! India! WHAAT?! I am a Latin America girl. India has NEVER been on my radar. It was the ministry that got my attention. I love lacrosse, naps, reading, Spanish, fuzzy blankets, tea, the mountains. I microwave my apples. NUM NUM. My favorite food is fruit and cereal.
